Founders Fund Scholarships

Helping Students with Hearing Loss

To honor our Co-founders, Bert Lederer and Charlene MacKenzie, in 2021 our members decided to begin supporting students with hearing loss that were committed to continuing their post-secondary education. Our goal is to provide financial assistance to those that have overcome obstacles their hearing loss may have created so they can continue to college or other post-secondary schools. Students from Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan counties are eligible to apply. The only requirement is that they have a verifiable hearing loss. The scholarships are administered by the Whatcom Community Foundation. Applications are usually available early in the calendar year and can be found here.
